12th-Jul-2009 01:54 am - Cretaceous Park
Today I went to the Museum of Life and Science for a special preview of the Dinosaur Trail, which is... well, exactly what it sounds like. It's a trail with dinosaurs on it, statues of different ones from the Cretaceous period (at least if I remember correctly). I've got some pictures, which I've randomly rendered as a nature documentary despite the fact I don't remember the names so just... Work with me here. xD

Pics as links because thumbnails are kinda bothersome and there's a number of them.

Cut for length )

Bonus pictures! Five from the Butterfly House at the museum, which is also exactly what it sounds like. A couple of them are really blurry because, well, butterflies. Motion. You know. BUT there's a couple really good, really close ones in there that came out well.

-A pretty red and black one on a flower. Unfortunately before I could get a good picture of it someone actually picked it up (stupid person, I'm working here!) but that one was the best of the bunch.
-A black and white one that stopped on a plant beside the path.
-My favorite one, an eye-spotted butterfly in one of the fruit dishes placed about.
-This one's a little blurry too, but the wings are still really pretty.
-Aaaannnd lastly, this one was WAY too close (I was taking it by holding the camera up above my head, so I couldn't judge the preview image right) and I couldn't get a good one before it flew away, but I HAD to keep it because how often do you see colors like that? Really.

[22:54] Roll_Soul> I just came off of what is essentially a double viewing of the Emperor's New Groove (once through regularly, then again with commentary because there was nothing else on TV >> ) and now I'm hyper inspired to draw.
[22:54] DitzWolfeh> XDD
[22:54] Roll_Soul> Draw what I dunno (LLAMAS!-- *shotshot* ) but still. XD
[22:55] DitzWolfeh> ROFL
[22:55] DitzWolfeh> XD

Yeah. That movie ROTS MY BRAIN IN ALL THE BEST WAYS AND I LOVE IT. Now if I could just get rid of the urge to draw my characters as llamas.

Oh yeah, I managed to find my dark blue hair dye today that I wanted. Hopefully I can get it done later tonight, and cut my hair too. ...Once I find the scissors.

I should make a list of my characters, so I have somewhere to link that's NOT my profile. AND POST AT DDD AND END MY FAIL.

You know, I'm just going to stop caring about the Ragetillery over at GPX. It beats the hell out of laggy Flash banners, and if I get really annoyed I can just block it, random URL by random URL.

9th-Jul-2009 04:28 pm - Music rant
I'm really tired of people acting like they're "too cool" for a particular style of music.

I am an avid Gwen Stefani fan, for example. A lot of people think this is stupid, and that she/her music are tasteless or whatever because it's not...I don't even know. Serious? That's not really the right word but I can't think of a better one.

But what's wrong with liking pop music? Gwen, for example, is just a ton of fun. A lot of music like that is. Maybe, musically speaking, it's not genius or some kind of revolutionary sound or anything. Lyrically, it's silly. But how is it wrong to like it?

I like all kinds of music. There isn't really a genre I won't listen to. I can like 80s punk or classic rock or classical or Chinese traditional music. I even like some country music. I appreciate them for different reasons, but mostly I like them because it's fun to get lost in whatever little world they come from. Pop music isn't really any different.

And I mean if you think about it? A lot of "rock legends" that supposedly cool people are really into, frankly, aren't worth much more in terms of musical brilliance. I mean take Kurt Cobain. Everyone loves Nirvana and they forgive that all their songs sound exactly the same and you can't really understand what they're saying. But I don't blame them for liking him/them. Just stop blaming me for thinking that Christina Aguilera actually has a really fucking amazing voice (which she does.)

I like things that make me feel a certain way and stupid music like that, sometimes, makes me feel happy. Yes I think Justin Timberlake is hot. Yes I like the song "SexyBack". So if you have a problem, I don't care. :P

I just glanced over my friends page and it seemed like it was an explosion of OMG OTAKON so I will join them.

OMG OTAKON IS A WEEK AWAY 8U

All of my own stuff is about 99% done. Like Hisui's goggles have yet to arrive in the mail, Yuri's blastia is not quite done, Luke's wig isn't styled yet and the surprise costume has a few details I need to do myself, but other than that.. woohoo. I mean I still gotta find and tweak some stuff for the previously done costumes I'm bringing this time around (like fixing Iria's wig, redoing the design on normal Yuri, and making a summer undershirt for Hei)... but I can probably manage all that stuff in one day. The only problem I'm running into is that I can't seem to find the pants I need to wear for Yuri .... :/ Eh, I'll figure something out.

Besides my own little tweaks stuff I have Alex's costumes to do... Guy and Flynn. Guy I should finish by tomorrow night so I can have Flynn done by like Monday-ish? Flynn will be a piece of cake. I just have a buttload of things to do on the weekend that are real-life related soooo...

Things to do today: )

And so my Vesperia perfect guide FINALLY came yesterday. It's very pretty AND PURPLE 8U I learned a few things: Duke's last name (Pantarei), Cumore's first name (ALEXANDER HAHA). I already knew Alexei's last name but eh. As far as fatness goes... still, nothing beats the fatness of the Abyss guide. It's not that thick.

Hearts rambling )

I have absolutely nothing planned tomorrow, and it feels good. It's been a LONG time since I've had a genuine Do Nothing day. Well, unless you count figuring out how the dish and my VCR interface as "something" XD

Actually had a semi-successful cooking experiment tonight. I decided on macaroni to go with everything else, but we didn't have any cheese to mix with it. We did, however, have cream of mushroom soup. So I boiled up the noodles with a little salt, mixed in the soup as well as some milk and butter, dashed a little oregano on it for experiment flavor, and am on the whole very satisfied with the results. The mac came out a little al dente which I usually like, but I think something softer might be better for next time.
*realizes a bit of irony in having picked an Alton Brown icon BEFORE having begun writing this entry, laughs, then keeps it*

By the way. Dial-up sucks. I know that's a very "DUH" statement, but I got burned twice in a row tonight. It will be a happy, HAPPY day when I can get better internet.

I don't know what I'm going to do with this Riolu when it hatches. I've already got a Lucario, and it's not like I can breed them together (mother and child). I guess just... box it? It was an accidental grab in the Daycare because I was going for an Eevee egg xD; Well. If it hatches out female I'm laughing, if only because the Riolu-Lucario line is female in very rare circumstances. It's actually kind of a miracle my first one was female. Oh well, I'll see soon enough anyway.
There's a meme on my f-list right now that I'll likely do later, once I feel like doing it. Being able to remember back so far would be good, too xD (Since it deals with memories and all)

Wah wah, angst nobody cares about )

Horton Hears a Who is a good movie. Very cute. I love having HBO, even if it's just on a trial basis. XD

Removed one of my spam entries from yesterday, if you were wondering where it went. Well, not removed, but locked down to all of seven(ish) people, just because.

7th-Jul-2009 01:32 am - OMG MORE F-LIST SPAM I'M SORRY GUYS
No I'm not

you're the ____ to my ____

At least I made the font smaller to preserve f-lists to some degree. ;P XD

Well, it took about two weeks of rescheduling again and again thanks to Screwed By the Landlords, but we finally got satellite TV. Now, if only I didn't have to go to work in an hour, I could play around with it more xDD At least I can goof around in it tonight.

Not really much else to say beyond that. On July 11th I've got a special preview to attend at the local Museum of Life and Science in return for having blogged about it in the past year (I can only assume they mean the mention under the Durham heading in this entry, although I wonder how they found it). It's a revival of the old Dinosaur Trail that used to be here YEAAARRRSSS ago, with dinosaur statues and history, and fossil digging and stuff. I'll likely have pictures for it, so those few who might be interested, you've got something to look forward to.

I already mentioned it at Twitter but I'm going to dye my hair again, dark blue this time (as opposed to the purple I was last time). ...The trouble is actually finding it. Hell, I may even go with a different brand than last time if possible. Either way though I'm cutting it shorter for summer too. Pictures may come or they may not.

Been experimenting with slight changes in my art style, a sort of slimming and refining of the way I do faces. It's still anime style, but it's slowly evolving towards something like say, DCMK or Death Note's style (just for example) than the old way I did it, which I cite as a Pokemon-type way. At least early on. It's taking a lot of tweaking but hey, nothing worth it is easy, right?

A couple memes from around my f-list.

Reply to this meme by yelling "Words!", and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your journal, and explain what they mean to you.

---

My character list is in my profile, to make this one simpler.

Pick one of my characters and I will tell you...

→ why I decided to play this character
→ my favorite scene or bit of interaction concerning this character to date
→ my favorite original aspect about this character (world-building for ocs or head-canon for fcs)
→ the last thing they did "off screen"
→ what their last words would be if they died tomorrow
→ what the next thing I'm doing for them is (narrative, post, shelving, whatever)

~*bonus round*~

» I will tell you what character of yours I'd like to play mine against
» you may ask me a free question if you so desire

---

Aaaannnd I think I've already done this one but I'll repeat it anyway.

Name any of the characters that I have ever played and I will then fill out the following:
⇒ what initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.
⇒ one of his/her best traits.
⇒ one of his/her worst traits.
⇒ how easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
⇒ a thread/post/plot/etc where I feel that I truly captured them.
⇒ my plans (if any) to write the character in the near future.

&

Give me a relationship between our characters and I'll give you an in-depth explanation on it.

Aside from all of those, Kangaskhan egg~ 8DD

5th-Jul-2009 03:28 pm - Guten tag!
I'm studying German this quarter. It's pretty fun, so far. The class is small. Only like 9 or ten people in it. The math class I'm taking is even smaller: 7 people.
I may drop Humanities 111, there's a REALLY FUCKING ANNOYING guy in the class. Just his voice is annoying enough, but I could deal with it if he didn't ask 50million annoying questions in each lecture. And he takes 5minutes to get off each question. It's not just "Well I heard that *blahblahblah*"; it's "well... I heard... i-i-it's more like...". UGH! If you can't figure out a way to say it clearly the first time, it's probably not important enough to be wasting time with it. When we were reading during the first class (a portion of Genesis) he was reading and was all overly theatrical with it. Speaking god's voice in a stupid faux-British accent; annoying as fuck. If it keeps up, it's going to end up getting to a point where I either get pissed off and yell at the guy, or just walk out of class.
Speech should be interesting. Thankfully there's only 3 speeches and they're both short (5-7 minutes). The only one I don't what I'm going to do for it is the second one. I have to teach something. Maybe I'll teach how to count in Japanese...

Woke up early today specifically to watch Wimbledon. That was a damn good match. Not quite as epic as last year's, but still pretty damn awesome. 30 games in the final set is pretty amazing. And it's awesome to see Federer pull out the win and get his 15th title.

Oogh, my stomach has been unsettled for the past couple of days. I know why, but that doesn't make enduring it any better. ~___~

Aside from that, I bought Guitar Hero: Smash Hits yesterday, and have already started playing it. So far... I've actually spent most of my time in Create A Rocker xDD But I'm also up to the second tier in Career Mode, so I guess that's good right? *snickers*

Floor move day at work, I think anyway. We've been doing so much over the past few days that I really wonder how much we've got left.

Must remember to try and fix my RP fail tonight.

4th-Jul-2009 12:12 am - Epiphany about my habits oO;
Okay so, I have a lot of books. I mean it, I have A LOT of books. Hell, I just got three yesterday, and three more today. Originally I just assumed "Okay yeah lol, I love to read". Which I DO. I adore reading, and do it whenever I can.

But hoarding is a sign of OCD, ain't it? That would certainly tie in with my recent activity, where I've actually noticed my little habits and quirks are getting worse. I know I said once a while ago that I was going to get tested for OCD. I haven't had a chance to yet, but jeez... By this point, I think it may just be to the point of "getting official documentation for something that's so obvious it barely needs it" XD

...Or something to that degree.

By the way, this epiphany? Came to me while reading. Slightly ironic if you ask me. xDD

So... don't expect to hear much from me in the next few days? Few days=weeks. I guess, I should put up like a hiatus thing on Luceti...

It makes me happy that, after all this time, I still remember Kaze wo Tsukinukete from when I learned it for an REO contest three years ago. Which reminds me, I do enough lurking there, I need to start posting again. ...Again.

I need to advance [info]networkbattler's canon at some point too. And find something to post in his journal that's NOT, for once, something to do with BN6.

2nd-Jul-2009 10:18 pm - Thank You
Hey God,

I just wanted to thank you for the amazing people I've met since I've been here. I truly am a people person, and that's been made clear to me by how much enjoyment I get out of talking and interacting with people. Whether they be fellow staff members, county people, or campers, I have so much love and compassion for people. Your people. I want to keep loving on people, if that's ok with you.

I also wanted to thank you for the amount of change and growth I've experienced. I feel different. I hope people back home notice that difference, too. I see the world differently. I see situations differently. I see people differently. Change is good--it keeps life interesting. I hope that I can continue to grow and change throughout the summer. And become more mature, too. I've noticed how mature I feel and [probably] act. I just hope that I can project that when I return to the valley be-lo-o-o-ow.

God, I'm your servant, willing to do Your awesome and wonderful will. Let Your will be done. Amen,

Love you lots,
Me

I was supposed to post these a long time ago. But as I sit here procrastinating on the 'surprise' cosplay I'm going to need something to do besides... crave ice cream.

Anyway, here are the pictures I took over spring break in Japan. Much, much belated...
